I began leading webinars back in 1999. I was working for a national company that needed to train their sales reps and administrative managers, people who couldn’t fly in or training but needed to learn how to use the company’s software. Up until then I had only done classroom teaching, but the skills that I has been using everyday as a fifth grade teacher easily transferred to my new role. Fast forward 17 years later and webinars have emerged as one of the top learning trends. No longer are they just used for corporate businesses looking to save training dollars, webinars are used by authors, consultants, speakers, small brick and mortar shops, and almost any other niche you can think of looking to engage with their prospects and customers.
Are you using webinars in your coaching practice yet? And if you are, have you been able to use them to generate qualified leads for your business?
Here are four reasons why now is the time for you to add webinars to your marketing tool kit:
#1 – The barrier of entry is low.
Not only can you set up and host a webinar for no cost, if you find the right tool you can get one started in under 20 minutes. Now just because you can, doesn’t mean you should – you want to plan and promote your webinar to get results. And even though there are free webinar services available, they are not always the best route to go based on the level of your business and brand. For example, if your audience is used to a certain quality of experience from you but you go cheap on a webinar service and the experience is awful – you will be off brand. You’ll need to factor in your VIPs (Very Interested Prospects) expectations when choosing a webinar format.
#2 – The technology is easy to use.
I remember how cumbersome it used to be to set up webinars using Citrix. The times have definitely changed and we are working in a time when really good apps pay extra attention to how easy it is for people to use their software. As the demand for webinars have increased, so has the demand for simple to use technology. The market is flooded with tools, some that work well, some that don’t. If you just getting started you don’t need all the bells and whistles, you’ll want to focus on the basics of webinar technology until you find your groove (or hire an assistant to help you). Even if you’ve never given a presentation before or speaking in front of a room full of people makes you anxious, it’s easy to get started building your skills from the comfort of your home, hotel room, or anywhere you choose.
#3 – Webinars are easily repurposed.
My absolute favorite thing about webinars is how easy it is to repurpose their content. Your repurposing options are unlimited. Once you start creating webinars, you’ll be amazed at how many options there are for reusing the content to grow your email list and accelerate your income. One well done webinar can be turned into ebooks, workbooks, online courses, home-study systems and more. With the right strategy of up-selling and incorporating discounts and bonuses after the webinar, you’ll be surprised at how much money you can make once the event is over. Webinars are a brilliantly bankable idea for productizing your book and adding a new stream of income to your speaking, coaching, and consulting business. Create once, leverage over multiple formats is one the best execution strategies I teach my clients. It’s how they can genuinely create passive income.
#4 – Webinars generate leads.
Bankable coaches, consultants, and speakers know that customers are the lifeblood of their business. And customers come through leads. Creating and delivering high-content webinars to your VIPs (very interested prospects) is a great way to grow your email list with people that want your services. When it comes to online marketing, webinars have been my biggest source of leads. Want to know why they work?
