From My Heart to Yours: What Season is Your Business In?

seasons of your businessOne of the lessons I’ve lived is that there is no immediate gratification when it comes to building a sustainable business.

Just like there are seasons of sowing and reaping in farming, there are seasons of investing and harvesting in your service-based business. Think of the four seasons this way:

  • Fall is for planting your seeds and giving them what they need to grow
  • Spring and Summer are for reaping your harvest, and
  • Winter is when all the growth happens.
That’s right, the cold Winter is your GROWING season. So when you despise the “winter” of your business and do everything you can to avoid, you are actually keeping your business from growing . The best way to spend your winter is:
  • Protecting what you’ve planted: maintain your credibility and visibility online
  • Preparing for your harvest: ensuring you have all of your systems in place
  • Planning for the next sowing season: updating your business plan with new products and programs
Paying attention to the season of my business has kept me from being frustrated. A farmer doesn’t expect crops the day after he sows seeds. And it is no different for us. Just like wise and faithful farmers, we have to nurture the soil, water our seeds, and protect what we’ve planted. Too many people abandon their crops because they don’t see fruit right away. And some of you are struggling because you have no idea what seed you are sowing or you are sowing your seed in the wrong soil (wrong niche).

How are you sowing into your business? Are you investing your time, energy and money in the right soil?

If you need help finding the right seed and soil, or figuring out which season you are in, please schedule a complimentary SHIFT into Purpose session so I can help you.
