Three Reasons to Pursue Your Purpose Today

Say yes

What do you need to say yes to?

If there’s a purpose in your heart that you’ve been dreaming or thinking about – what’s stopping you from saying yes to your purpose?

For me – it was being afraid of what other people would think. My inner gremlin would whisper, “Who do you think you are?” And I was constantly plagued by the fear that the things that I wanted were not really meant for me.

I rarely talked about these feelings – many of us don’t. But many of us struggle with feelings of unworthiness and doubt. Those feelings are at the core of why we lack the confidence to successfully market our message and businesses. We question our abilities, we doubt that anyone would be interested in what we really want to offer the world.  So we end up denying ourselves the right to pursue that thing that truly aligns our passion with our purpose. What we fail to remember is that we are also denying the people that we are meant to serve the benefit of our gifts, talents, and experience.

If you need a nudge to pursue your purpose, here are three reasons to say “YES!” today:

  • You will never find true contentment and fulfillment by settling for less than your purpose.  Or as Proverbs (13:12) says “Hope deferred makes the heart sick…”
  • It is never too late to pursue your purpose-based passion. Don’t give up on your vision because you’ve wrongly assumed that it is too late. Instead, start asking how and looking for the opportunities, relationships, and open doors you need.
  • There are those that can’t step into their purpose, until you fully step into yours. Your “yes” impacts more than just your life. Each one of us is part of a bigger story and connected to someone else’s purpose. When we say no, we cause unnecessary roadblocks and detours for ourselves and others.

So whatever you’ve been putting off saying yes to – make a decision today to pursue your purpose.

I want to do more public speaking (online & offline). However, there are peeps out there saying “you can’t make a living doing that unless you sell from the stage.” Well, I’m now saying “thanks for sharing” and moving on with pursuing more opportunities to speak.

If everyone listened to the nay-sayers that proclaim you’ll never make money doing that” the world would be a sad, boring, uninteresting place. If you choose not to sell from the stage – that just means you look for keynotes and have other ways to monetize your expertise. Whatever you do, don’t ignore that part of you that wants to speak – explore it and see where it leads you.
